KB-33585: Running scripts when the domain starts.

Question:

How can I run a script whenever the domain starts?

Solution:

To do so, you must insert the script into a server object, since all server objects belong to the domain.

In order to know which objects belong to the domain, go to Organizer and right-click Domain–Project Name. Choose the option Edit Activation Order…, and then open the project. A list is then displayed, showing all objects. The order these objects are displayed on the list is the exact order they are executed.

Example:
1-Data (folder)
2-Report
3-Database
4-Historic

NOTES:

  • Do not create a script referencing the Report object in the Data folder, because according to the above order, the Report will only be loaded after this folder.
  • It is also not possible to create scripts referencing objects that do not belong to the server, such as a MessageBox, because this is a screen object, and it is not part of the server; thus, its script would not work.
