KB-28136: E3 (32 bits) and Oracle (64 bits) connection.

Question:

In a 64-bit server, I have a 32-bit E3 and a 64-bit Oracle Client installed. When I test their connection in E3Studio, the following message pops up:

It was not possible to connect to Oracle database.

What could possibly be happening here, since there is another program in the same machine that is  able to access the database at the same time?

Solution:

Since E3 (32 bits) is using the Oracle Client (64 bits) to communicate with the Oracle Server, E3 is not able to communicate with it.  E3 needs a 32-bit client to be able to use Oracle. A suggestion would be to uninstall Oracle Client 64 and then install Oracle Client 32.

To avoid possible problems with Oracle Client 32, if E3 is installed in C:\Program Files (x86)\Elipse E3, try to re-install it in another folder, that does not have characters like (X86).
