Full HD may cause hardkey/softkey recognition error

Question:

The softkey/hardkey is not being recognized after an update attempt. What could have happened? Can a full HD cause recognition errors in a hardkey or softkey? How can I fix it?

Solution:

Version control in Elipse E3 happens safely via a USB device (hardkey) or a software key (softkey). This equipment will control the software versions applied to each situation; it ensures that not only the version that is more suitable for each case will always be employed, but also that clients with older versions can upgrade to the latest one.

In order to install Elipse E3 properly, you need to make sure the version currently being used is compatible with the version programmed in the hardkey; otherwise, the software will only open in Demo mode. For any questions regarding the version you’ve purchases, please contact Elipse Software’s tech support and inform the code in your hardkey.

The issue described in this article may have been caused by lack of space in the hard drive. A full HD could cause recognition errors for the hardkey or the softkey. In this case, the following message appears in eLic’s log (Elipse License Manager):

eLicHaspLib.Exceptions.HaspSrmException: Hasp SRM operation failed (CorruptStorage)

This indicates the the HASP driver can’t detect the key due to corruption in the file.

To retrieve the key, the first step is to free up some space in the HD. Then, you must reinstall the HASP drivers, as follows:

  1. Unzip HKCustomer (latest version available for download at Elipse Software’s website) into a folder. A new folder called Drivers will appear.
  2. Then, you must execute (with administrator’s credentials) the “ForceRemove.bat” file in Drivers folder.
  3. Finally, use the administrator’s credentials to execute the “Install.bat” file in the Drivers folder.
