Double acknowledgement in Elipse E3’s alarms.

Question:

What are the benefits of enabling double acknowledgement (DobleAckRequired property = True) at Elipse E3’s alarms?

Solution:

When an alarm has been set up with double acknowledgement in E3, it means it can be acknowledged when active or when inactive, that is, it can be acknowledged twice. This means an alarm set up with double acknowledgement will only leave the alarms banner when it is acknowledged after being normalized.

This property does not apply to alarms not set up as event, because events are automatically acknowledged by the computer’s SYSTEM user.

– Alarm is active and then acknowledged; then, the alarm is normalized

Double acknowledgement enabled
The alarm will only leave the banner until a new acknowledgement

Double acknowledgement disabled
The alarm will leave the banner automatically after being normalized

– Alarm is active but is unacknowledged until it’s normalized
The alarm will only leave the banner after being acknowledged

The demo application attached to this article illustrates all the scenarios discussed above.
