Temporary emergency license for Elipse E3/Power.

This article shows how to use a temporary emergency license for  Elipse E3/Power in situations when the license key has been damaged.

A new feature for a temporary emergency license for Elipse E3/Power was implemented with version 6.0 and has been operating ever since.  It temporarily keeps the last valid license for E3 Server in an emergency basis, even when it has restarted.  This license ensures your Elipse product will continue working during the time it takes to fix this issue.

Some situations may reflect issues with the license. For example, there is a damaged hardkey, or an expired hardkey/softkey. In these scenarios,  E3 Server will keep the last valid programming read by the license up until at least the next working day.

After the access to the license has failed, E3 Server will continue working for two (2) hours during working days/hours. If the issue takes place by the end of a business day, the temporary license will start working at the beginning of the next business day.

Depending on the area, business hours run from 9 AM to 5 PM. It depends on the time zone where E3 Server is running. Therefore, say the key fails at 3:30 PM. In this case, the temporary license will start working at 9 PM the next business day.

A side effect of this feature is that now you won’t be able to force DEMO mode in E3 Server simply by removing the key (or the HASP drivers) and restart E3 Server.

To do so, go to E3 Tweak and edit the Number of HASP retries option to 0. This will force the demo mode, regardless of the presence of any valid licenses. Either way, you still must restart E3 Server.
