The ISA-5.1 standard, which works on a world level, was developed to unify the symbols and the identification of process instruments/devices. This standard is used for elaborating several documents, such as:
- Mechanical and process flowcharts in general.
- Control systems diagrams using instruments.
- Identification of al instruments in the process, as well as each control’s individual functions.
The process flowcharts use a simplified mode of the representative symbols for each device/instrument recommended by this standard.
In order to develop the process’s functions, and to understand how they work, the user must be fully aware of:
- Which devices/instruments are being installed.
- Where each instrument is.
- How each instrument works inside the process.
- Which instruments are linked to one another in the control loops.
The main purpose of this library is to implement these flowcharts based on the ISA 5.1 standard via screens in the supervision system, thus making it possible to monitor specific variables in the process in a faster, more dynamic way, as seen in the example below:
