KB-45268: Screen server’s settings for accessing data from an E3Storage in a data server.

Question:

How can I set a Storage/Query from an application running as a screen server to access the data recorded in an E3Storage from a computer running as a data server?

Question:

To do so, follow these procedures in the screen server application:

  1. Insert a database, and set it up to connect to the same database where the data server application’s E3Storage’s data are being recorded.
  2. Insert an E3Storage, but do not add any field to it (leave it blank): just set it up with the name of the database previously added and the name of the table where de data server’s E3Storage’s data are being recorded.
  3. Insert a Query and set it up to access the previously added blank E3Storage. This blank E3Storage will not record any information in the database; it will only return the data recorded by E3Storage in the data server application.
Additional information on blank E3Storages (with no configured fields):
  • You can configure a blank E3Storage (with no fields). You must only fill its DBServer and TableName properties.
  • A blank, “fieldless” E3Storage is activated normally; it will not, however, generate tables or indexes.
  • The commands generating the structure of the blank database in E3Studio will inform the structure will not be generated because E3Storage is empty.
  • The blank E3Storage is listed normally on the list of E3Query’s databases, allowing queries to data generated by other applications.
  • You will not need E3Storage’s licenses to query data from other databases (the only necessary licenses are for recording data). This means the license for E3Storage will only be necessary in the data server.
