Question:
What is the proper architecture to work with databases in Hot-Standby?
Solution:
There are two possibilities:
- Two computers running E3Server (Hot and Standby), and a third one running the database; in this architecture, the active E3Server will record data in the database.
- Two computers running E3Server (Hot and Standby) also running database servers; that way, there will be no third computer dedicated to only running the database. In this architecture, the E3Server will record its data in both database servers (in Hot E3Server and Standby E3Server), thus making sure data is mirrored.
We recommend that you choose the first option. It will cause the computers running the supervisory to remain dedicated to running only Elipse E3, which improves its performance.
