How can an IP camera be used in Elipse SCADA?
Solution:
There are two ways an IP camera can be used in Elipse SCADA:
1. When the camera’s software makes Windows acknowledge it as “video for Windows”: to add the camera to the application, access Elipse SCADA’s Organizer, go to Watcher’s options, click New, and select the option Video for Windows device.
NOTE: when using this option, you will need to add the Elipse Watcher module to Elipse SCADA’s license.
2. When the camera’s software does NOT make Windows acknowledge it as “video for Windows”: whenever you want to visualize the images captured by the camera, you must open an Internet Explorer page pointing to the camera’s IP address.
Example of a script that opens Internet Explorer with a preset address (in this case, Elipse’s website):
