What drivers can be used to communicate with a Siemens CPU 315-2PN/DP PLC via ethernet?
Solution:
For communication between either Elipse’s supervisory systems (E3 or SCADA) and Siemens CPU 315-2 PN/DP PLC directly on your Ethernet port, there are three possibilities:
- Use Elipse S7Functions driver, which will communicate to a library from Siemens with the same name, and this library will in turn communicate with the PLC.
- Use Elipse MProt driver, which communicates directly with the PLC.
- The third possibility has never been tested, therefore we cannot vouch for it, but you can establish communication via Modbus protocol. In this case, some parameters for communication should be generated by using Siemens’ Modbus TCP Wizard tool.
