Question:
Can I retrieve any usernames and passwords created in the application? Can I work around this protection?
Solution:
No, it is not possible to retrieve anyone’s username or password in the application but your own. Keep in mind that there are two kinds of protection passwords in Elipse E3:
- E3 Studio configuration protection: usernames and passwords to protect the project files (.prj and .lib) against unauthorized changes.
- Execution protection: usernames and passwords to protect system’s operation and monitoring.
When dealing with the latter, the application’s usernames and passwords are stored in its domain (.dom). What you can to then is to create a new domain and add the old prjs and libs into this domain. Notice, however, that once you do that, all domain settings (remote domains, Hot-Standby, events records, Viewer groups) will be lost.
