Question:
I would like to identify the version of Elipse E3/Power the objects saved in my domain belong to; in other words, I want to know what was the current version running when they were saved. Can I retrieve this information?
Solution:
Yes; starting from version 5.0 of Elipse E3/Power, you have been able to retrieve this information, that is, to determine what was the version running at the moment when domain objects were last saved.
If you run Elipse E3/Power version 5.0 or higher, you can check this information easily; that is, whenever you save an object, Folder or Resource, the software’s version running at the moment is also saved. When you execute an application, you will find the information about the versions on the logs folder (C:\eeLogs\E3).
Message: pre-starting 'Driver1' (v1) [E3 v5.0.437 2019-12-04 13:44:59] 14 pre-starting 'Data1' (v2) [E3 v5.0.437 2019-12-04 14:03:24] 14
You can view this information at the log file, and they indicate the timestamp of the domain objects’ saving time (in UTC):
In the example above, you can see that not all entries display their versions on the log. This happens because these objects belong to versions lower than 5.0, and therefore can’t display this information. In order to be able to access this data, you will need to have downloaded Elipse E3 version 5.0 or higher.
