If you chose to communicate via modem, you will have to force new settings on the hardware preferences. To do so, go to Windows Control Panel and choose the item Phone and Modem Options. A window will be open; go to Modems tab, select the modem to communicate, and then click the Properties button. After that, a new window will opened, where you must choose the Advanced tab. Finally, click the Change default preferences button.
1. On General tab, choose 9600 in Port speed
option.

NOTE: If the Melsec PLC fax/modem can be configured
(via DIP switch, for example), make sure it is set to not consider Data
Terminal Ready override, and also not to Suppress result codes options on that
device.
