Question:
Which cable should be used for the communication between Elipse’s supervisory systems and Zebra ZM400 printer, via Zebra Printer ZPL-II driver? Is this cable compatible with other printers too?
Solution:
To communicate with Zebra ZM400 printer, you must use a null-modem serial cable (connectors DB9-DB9) that supports flow control via via hardware (DTE-DTE). The cable’s pinout is the following:
DB9 – DB9
3 – 2
2 – 3
7 – 8
8 – 7
6, 1 – 4
4 – 6, 1
5 – 5
As for the cable being able to work with other printers: theoretically it could, however no tests were made with this purpose, nor there are successful cases reported for other printers.
For further information, please refer to Zebra’s documentation and/or technical support.
Nice blog, I am looking forward to reading out other blogs too.
