KB-36903: Using Set command to enhance a script’s performance.

Question:

How does Set command help enhance a script’s performance?

Solution:

In addition to improving the organization and making it easier to analyze scripts, Set command optimizes the script’s performance by avoiding the frequent use of  GetObject() and Item() methods, which perform, respectively, a search in the E3Server or in any other object, which decreases the script’s performance.

Thus, Set command stores the search’s result in a script variable. For example:

set tag = Application.GetObject(“Driver1.Tag2”)
