Question:
I have an E3 application which monitors events in remote devices (one main device and one backup). When I switch to the backup remote device, will it record events repeatedly if this device’s buffer also saves them in it? Or is there a way to prevent this from happening?
Solution:
Yes, when the remote devices switch, the E3 starts reading the events in the current device’s buffer. Neither E3 nor the driver can get around this behavior.
But since the remote devices keep “communicating”, every time the main device’s events are read, it will instruct the other device to update its buffer. So, when there is a switchover, the buffer in standby will have the same data as the one in the main remote device.
