Is it really necessary?<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Solution:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Setting up the Integrity Ping is <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">essential <\/span>for the Hot-Standby mode to work correctly!<\/p>\n<p>The Hot-Standby algorithm requires a third party on the network (the first two being the main and the backup servers) to determine whether this network is working. If neither the integrity address nor the backup server can be accessed, the main server assumes the network interface has issues, and then immediately stops running the Domain.<\/p>\n<p>The ping address must be from a device that theoretically will never be turned off, or that is crucial for the system to work properly (e.g.: PLC, switch, gateway, etc.); thus, if this point presents any problem, the whole system will be shut down.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Note<\/span>: You must<span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"> NEVER <\/span>use the main server&#8217;s or the secondary server&#8217;s IP address!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h3 data-start=\"104\" data-end=\"154\">New integrity check option (v6.9 and later)<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"156\" data-end=\"275\">From <strong data-start=\"161\" data-end=\"198\">Elipse E3\/Power\/Water version 6.9<\/strong>, HotStandby supports a new integrity check method: <strong data-start=\"250\" data-end=\"274\">E3 Server (REC Echo)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"277\" data-end=\"450\">This option uses the proprietary <strong data-start=\"310\" data-end=\"326\">REC protocol<\/strong> instead of ICMP and requires an <strong data-start=\"359\" data-end=\"404\">E3Server running on the integrity address<\/strong> (Demo mode allowed, no application required).<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"452\" data-end=\"662\">By default, <strong data-start=\"464\" data-end=\"477\">port 6515<\/strong> is used. If a different port is configured, the same setting must be applied to all HotStandby nodes, and <strong data-start=\"584\" data-end=\"610\">all system connections<\/strong> (Viewers, Remote Domains, etc.) will use this port.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"664\" data-end=\"724\">The integrity check type can be selected via a <strong data-start=\"711\" data-end=\"723\">combobox<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Question: What is an Integrity Ping in Hot-Standby settings?
