Foreword<\/span>: This example uses the Microsoft Access database, but with ODBC you can connect to any existing database that has an ODBC driver installed on your computer.<\/p>\n

\n1.\u00a0<\/span> In case there is none, create an empty database for MS Access, with extension .MDB (Office 2003 or lower) or .ACCDB (Office 2007 or higher), and save in a directory of your choice.<\/p>\n

2.<\/span> Open the Control Panel<\/span>.<\/p>\n

3.<\/span> Open the Administrative Tools<\/span> option.<\/p>\n

4. <\/span>Open the item Data Source ODBC<\/span>. The ODBC Data Source Administrator<\/span> will then open. On tab System DSN<\/span>, click Add <\/span>to add a new ODBC connection.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

5.<\/span> A window will open. On it, select the MS Access driver installed on your machine and click Finish<\/span>.<\/div>\n

6.<\/span> The next step is setting up the connection:<\/p>\n

a<\/span>. In Data Source Name<\/span>, write the name you want to call your ODBC connection;
\nb<\/span>. In Description<\/span>, enter a description;
\nc<\/span>. In Select <\/span>button, select the directory and file of the database previously created (dbTeste.mdb). If you do not have a database and want to create one now, click Create<\/span>;

7.<\/span> Now you have already configured your OBDC connection and can access it either via Elipse SCADA or Elipse E3.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Note (1)<\/span>: Elipse E3 has NATIVE access to Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and Microsoft Access databases. Therefore, for these banks, it will not be necessary to create an ODBC connection.<\/p>\n

Note (2)<\/span>: this article does not go into further details on how to use ODBC connections inside SCADA and E3.<\/div>\n
