This article explains how to configure Elipse SendMail<\/a> driver in providers with 2FA (2-factor authentication\/2-step verification).<\/p>\n

Two-step verification or two-factor authentication<\/h3>\n

Two-step verification, also knows as two-factor authentication (2FA), can increase the security of your account, because it makes it harder for other people to sign in to it. It uses two different sources of identification: your own password, and information for contacting you (security information). Even if other people discover your password, they will not be able to do anything if they’re not privy to your security information.<\/p>\n

There are several e-mail providers that already provide this authentication. However, for devices or systems that are not compatible with 2FA (which is the case with\u00a0Elipse SendMail<\/a> driver<\/strong>), you can generate an application password; this password is only added once, and you won’t need to memorize it.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Generating an application password for Gmail<\/h3>\n

You can only generate application passwords for accounts where two-step verification<\/a> is on. To create a new app password, follow these procedures:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Access your Google account<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  2. After that, select Security<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  3. In “How to log in to Google”, select App passwords<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  4. In the lower half, pick Select app,<\/strong> and then choose the app you’re using \"e\" pick Select device and<\/strong> and choose the device you’re using\u00a0 \"e\"\u00a0Generate<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  5. Follow all the instructions on how to add the app password. It’s the 16-character code on the yellow bar in your device.<\/li>\n
  6. Click Done<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    NOTE:<\/strong> Google no longer authorizes using third-party apps or devices (option Allow less safe applications<\/strong>) that require only a username and password to log into Google account. Therefore, you must use two-step verification<\/strong> and the app password<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Generating an application password for Microsoft accounts<\/h3>\n

    After activating two-step verification<\/a>, you might find it difficult when using apps or devices that don’t support two-step verification. To work around this limitation, just create an application password<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    In order to create an application password for apps or devices, follow these steps:<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Go to Security Essentials<\/a> and log into your Microsoft account.<\/li>\n
    2. Then, select Advanced Security Options<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    3. At Application passwords<\/b>, pick Create a new application password<\/b>. The new app password is then generated and shown on screen.<\/li>\n
    4. Type this app password where you would normally add your regular Microsoft account password.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
