{"id":12248,"date":"2021-07-23T15:52:56","date_gmt":"2021-07-23T18:52:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kb.elipse.com.br\/en\/?p=12248"},"modified":"2025-12-11T15:58:02","modified_gmt":"2025-12-11T18:58:02","slug":"how-to-import-m-prot-tags-via-the-tia-portal-importer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kb.elipse.com.br\/en\/how-to-import-m-prot-tags-via-the-tia-portal-importer\/","title":{"rendered":"How to import M-Prot tags via the TIA Portal Importer."},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Starting with version <a href=\"https:\/\/www.elipse.com.br\/en\/downloads\/?cat=48&#038;key=&#038;language=enus#header-main\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>4.0.24<\/strong><\/a> of <a href=\"https:\/\/kb.elipse.com.br\/en\/category\/english\/drivers-en\/siemens-mprot-ppi-mpi-isotcp-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Siemens M-Prot (PPI, MPI, ISOTCP)<\/strong><\/a>, and from then on, this driver features a new resource for tags import via a TIA Portal automation project. This resource is the <strong>M-Prot TIA Portal Importer<\/strong>. With this, the <strong>Import Tags<\/strong> tab features new possibilities for tags import; these features originate from the TIA Portal automation project.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_11862\" style=\"width: 444px\"  class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/kb.elipse.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/11861\/1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-11862 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/kb.elipse.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/11861\/1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"444\" height=\"535\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Import Tags tab<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The <strong>Import Tags<\/strong> tab displays a tree-like structure of all tags already imported and saved in the Driver&#8217;s project. When adding a new driver to the project, the structure&#8217;s initial status is empty, except fot the Tag Browser folder. You can add imported tags via <strong>Open Importer <\/strong>option, as seen in the topic below called <strong>M-Prot TIA Portal Explorer<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In case there already are imported tags in this tree structure, you can use the following options:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Remove<\/em> option to remove the selected tag; and<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Remove All<\/em> option to remove all imported Tags.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Click <strong>OK<\/strong> to save all tags and display them at the Tag Browser.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>NOTES<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"fnt17\">Only the\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"fnt17\"><span id=\"highlight\" class=\"highlight\">LReal<\/span><\/span><span class=\"fnt17\">\u00a0data type is not supported when importing Tags. If there are variables with this data type in a project, they are ignored by the importer, which proceeds with the import process of the variables with other data types.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Blocks whose types are ArrayDB or InstanceDB are not supported during tags importing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div id=\"1\">\n<h2>M-Prot TIA Portal Importer<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">M-Prot TIA Portal Importer is an executable file distributed alongside Siemens M-Prot (MPI\/PPI\/ISO-TCP) driver, whose goal is to import tags from an automation project created by\u00a0 TIA Portal software, by Siemens. In order to have it work properly, the file must obey the following requirements:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"par0\">Siemens TIA Portal versions 16, 17, or 18 installed;<\/li>\n<li class=\"par0\">Microsoft .NET Framework 4.8 or later installed;<\/li>\n<li class=\"par0\">Folders TIAImporterV16, TIAImporterV17, and TIAImporterV18, provided with this Driver, must be located in the same folder as this Driver;<\/li>\n<li class=\"par0\">The MProtTiaPortalImporter.exe executable files and the Siemens.Engineering.dll files, provided with this Driver, must be located within the folders mentioned earlier;<\/li>\n<li class=\"par0\">The user account using the Importer must be added to the Siemens TIA Openness local group of users, located on Windows Administrative Tools.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Executing M-Prot Tia Portal Importer<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">To initialize M-Prot TIA Portal Importer, click Open Importer on the driver&#8217;s settings <strong>Import Tags<\/strong> tab. Then, the figure below will appear.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-11863 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/kb.elipse.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/11861\/2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"444\" height=\"474\" \/><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">M-Prot TIA Portal Importer<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Click <strong>Open TIA Portal project<\/strong> to select a TIA Portal file, and then click <strong>OK<\/strong> to open an instance of TIA Portal in the background. If the TIA Portal firewall can&#8217;t find <strong>M-Prot TIA Portal Importer<\/strong> on the authorizations list, a dialog box opens with the following options: <strong>Yes<\/strong> to grant access, <strong>Yes to all<\/strong> to grant access and save the authorization on the list, and <strong>No<\/strong> to deny access, as seen below.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_11865\" style=\"width: 502px\"  class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/kb.elipse.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/11861\/3.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-11865 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/kb.elipse.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/11861\/3.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"502\" height=\"262\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Access settings<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Right after the <strong>M-Prot TIA Portal Importer<\/strong>&#8216;s authorization, it will open and display a tree-like structure of the project with itens that are relevant for the importing process.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_11866\" style=\"width: 444px\"  class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/kb.elipse.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/11861\/4.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-11866 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/kb.elipse.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/11861\/4.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"444\" height=\"474\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Itens for import<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">To import all tags from the project, click <strong>Import all items<\/strong>. After the importing process takes place, click <strong>OK<\/strong> to confirm it and close the Importer. When closing the Importer, all tags automatically go to the Driver Settings dialog; this is where they can be saved. For further information, check out the topic <strong>Tags Importing<\/strong> below.
